A WOMAN was shot as she walked down a busy Scarborough street in broad daylight.
The victim, who is in her 30s and is local, was operated on yesterday at Scarborough Hospital.
It is believed that she was shot with an air weapon. The incident occurred at shortly before 3pm on Monday, as she walked along Falsgrave Road.
She was taken to hospital with serous injuries, although police said yesterday that they are not life threatening.
The operation was intended to remove the pellet which was lodged in her arm and to speed up her recovery.
Following the incident, police acted quickly and obtained information which led them to a nearby address. There, two men were arrested.
They have been released on bail as inquiries continue.
Police have now appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency.
