A group of intrepid cyclists are taking on a mammoth 500-mile charity bike ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Brothers Alan and Tom Sadler, along with Craig Griffiths and Glenn Toal, will be cycling from Edinburgh to London, setting out on September 16.

The group are raising money in memory of Catherine Pearson, who passed away in June aged just 25.

Local businesses have been showing their support, with the Crown Spa Hotel providing free gym passes to help with training and Nisa sponsoring the team £1,000.

Alan said: “We’re a bit nervous! We’re hoping to cover 100 miles a day, which we know we can do, but it’s whether we can do it five days in a row.

“We’ve been training every weekend. We’re hoping to raise around £5,000 and we’re halfway there.”

If you would like to sponsor the team, please go to or text MCCS50 plus the amount to 70070
