ELECTRICAL engineers will swap tools for walking boots in a charity hike.
Putting their best foot forward are four local lads from B Danby and Co in Albermarle Back Road, who are getting in step for the annual Lyke Wake walk taking place on June 24.
They will set on the 42-mile route, crossing the moors from Osmotherley near Northallerton to Ravenscar, at 8pm with a finishing time of around 11am the following morning.
Electrical supervisor Dan Close said: “It’s an organised walk we’re doing through Whitby Lions raising money for Scarborough Lifeboat.
“One of our customers volunteers for the lifeboat in his spare time, so we thought it would be nice to do it for a local charity.”
The team is aiming to beat a 15-and-a-half hour target. The time was set by Colleague Steve Armitage who last did the walk in 1998 and will be cracking the whip on the team to improve on it this time around!
Mr Close added: “We’re looking forward to it, we are confident we can beat it. I think it will be alright.”
Staff have already raised £300 for Scarborough RNLI and are hoping to reach £500 to donate to the local cause.
Anyone interested in donating can fill in a sponsor form available from the shop.
