Star Wars fans are in for a treat as Dave Prowse - AKA Darth Vader - is the latest star booked to appear at next year’s Sci Fi Scarborough event.

As Darth Vader, Dave has played one of the most iconic villains in movie history and is instantly recognisable the world over.

Organisers behind Sci Fi Scarborough - which takes place at the Spa Complex on March 14 and 15 next year - say the booking is “a major coup”.

The team added they are building day by day to provide a truly out-of-this-world line-up for the 2015 show.

Dave joins the Star Wars unmasked panel on “Star Wars Saturday” alongside well-known characters as Greedo (Paul Blake) Oola (Femi Taylor) and Leesub Sirln (Pam Rose) with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Event co-organiser Steve Dickinson said: “If I was even to begin to imagine that the seven-year-old boy that saw Star Wars when it first came out could be involved in bringing these characters that I grew up loving to my home town, I wouldn’t have believed you.

“The fact that Darth Vader is more than happy to come to our beautiful seaside town for the whole weekend shows that we are on the right track for next year.”

The guest list keeps on growing with the confirmation of Shane Rimmer (Scott Tracy/Bond), Richard James (Officer Orrin/Space Precinct) and Virginia Hey (Farscape/Bond).

There also promises to be more major comic book artists and writers announced in the coming weeks and the promise of “Space Opera Sunday” with a panel of yet-to-be-announced guest stars. Tickets from the Spa Box Office.
