Delivery men enjoy lunch in customer’s chair

When people spend hundreds of pounds on new furniture they would expect to be the first to enjoy sitting in it.

However, as this image shows, that was not the case for one Scarborough customer.

The picture was taken on Friday afternoon in the car park of Morrisons in Eastfield.

It shows two DFS delivery men in the back of their lorry enjoying the sun. But it soon became apparent that the pair had taken the company’s motto “making everday more comfortable” to heart.

What caught the photographer’s eye, however, was the fact one of the men had pulled the chair forward to sit on while the other used it as a footrest.

The member of the public, who did not wish to be named said: “I watched as one of the men ate his dinner while he was sat in the chair.

“The chair looked like it was out for delivery as it was covered in the protective wrapping at the bottom, but it had been pulled away at the sides.

“I would not be happy if I knew this is how they treat your orders.

“I could not believe what I was seeing.”

In a statement to The Scarborough News, the company said it would be fully investigating the matter.

A spokesman said: “As the UK’s leading sofa manufacturer and retailer, we believe in delivering the best possible customer service and that means treating each and every sofa we deliver with care and consideration.

“We are disappointed to see this image as we expect the highest standards from our employees at all times.

“We are investigating internally to understand how this has happened.”

The chair in question retails at close to £600.
