Desapline’s delight as they secure superb medal haul

Scarborough-based Desapline Martial Arts Club are celebrating after returning from the ICO World Championships with an impressive haul of 16 medals.

The club members brought back a superb five gold medals from the World Championships in Birmingham over the weekend.

Coach Andy Desa led the charge with an impressive three gold medals, while Lola Duncan-Fewster and Taylor Shaw also sealed gold.

Delighted coach Desa told The Scarborough News: “I was so proud to see my fighters competing on such a big stage and doing so well they really are inspirational.

“They are world class fighters and proved that, it meant so much winning three more world titles, but even more to see my students fight on a world stage was simply amazing. They all trained so hard up to the worlds and it really has paid off .”

Any members new or old are welcome to attend the club’s sessions, held upstairs at the Corporation Club on Dean Road.

Sessions cost £4 for Under-16 and £5 for Over-16s.
