Bosses at the charity say they are currently having to turn away around 15 people a week due to a lack of volunteers.

Manager Julie Banks explained: “We hate having to turn anyone away, but at the moment we just don’t have enough people to meet the demand for journeys.

“We particularly need drivers at the moment, but we also need passenger escorts.”

Volunteers drivers need to be aged 25 or over and must have a D1 category on their driving licence.

Passenger escorts, who help people on and off the buses and make sure they get to their destination safely, need to be 18 or over, fit and active.

Julie said: “We provide all the necessary training - people don’t need to have driven a minibus before.

“We ask that people can give at least one full day a week.”
