Filey’s Phil Dickens had a night to remember when he played the starring role in his side’s 34-run AndyHire League Division A success against Seamer.
Jordan Powell then set Filey on the way with 25, before Dickens’ unbeaten 75 and Jonny Hunter’s not out 39 took the score to 158-5.
Gregg Chadwick gave Seamer a solid grounding with 38, but Dickens’ 4-12 and Ryan Baldry’s 4-23 made sure of Filey’s first win of the season.
Ebberston and Scalby were left all tied up after a thriller.
A score of 49 from Tom Brickman and knocks in the 30s from Damian Readman and Matty Turnbull carried Ebberston to 150-3.
Scalby lost two wickets in the earlier stages of the reply, but Dave Holborn (57no) and Adam Waugh (49no) kept them on track for the tie.
Leaders Staxton booked a four-wicket win against Ganton.
Rob Middlewood gave Ganton a few batting highlights with 29 of their 82-6.
There were a few worrying moments for Staxton in the reply, as Ian Cousins took 3-26, but they managed to get over the winning line.
Jack Holt’s unbeaten 37 carried Wykeham past Heslerton’s 95-4 in a five-wicket win.
Kristian Wilkinson had earlier hit 28 for the defeated side.
In Division B, Flixton showed off their batting power in a 68-run win against Scarborough.
Flixton charged their way to 184-4 with Scott Cooper crashing 80 and Leigh Franks adding 44.
Ben Rowe’s 25 and David Snowball’s 43 not out gave Scarborough hope, but they couldn’t compete with the Flixton run-rate.
Matty Morris was in useful all-round form when Seamer B toppled Sherburn by seven wickets.
Craig Sanderson’s 30 helped Sherburn to 78, but the efforts of Morris (3-8), Steve Winwood (3-20) and Dan Jewitt (3-17) kept them in check.
Morris was then undefeated on 27 in the successful reply.
Scalby B felt the force of Cayton’s bowling attack as they were slowed to 52-9 in an eight-wicket defeat.
Alex Townsend’s 3-5 and Matthew Nettleton’s 4-18 did the damage before Cayton cantered home.
Jack Hakings and James Long both hit scores in the 40s as Cloughton beat Wykeham B by 38 runs.
Wykeham dropped short of Cloughton’s 133-4, despite 28 from Kevin Thompson.
In Division C, Ravenscar’s Freddie Barker produced fine figures of 4-6 as Valley Bar Nomads were gunned down for 54 in a five-wicket win.
Ivan Kirk’s 23 not out took Ravenscar to the points.
Cloughton B edged a six-run win against Ebberston B.
Liam Salt’s 39 and 45 from Sean Exley allowed Cloughton to make 143-2.
Joe Tyson (27), Doug Bentley (31) and Adrian Turnbull (29) set the course for Ebberston, but 3-26 from Exley soon blew them off it.
Forge Valley won by 67 runs against Snainton.
Eric Hall top-scored for Valley with 34, but three wickets each for Luke Smith and Leigh Watson restricted them to 172.
Ben Storey’s 3-29 made sure Snainton’s reply dropped off.
Staxton B’s Sean Pinder was unlucky to be on the wrong end of a five-wicket loss against Cayton B.
Pinder hit 38 not out in Staxton’s 123-5 and then took 4-21, but 59 from Paul Miller helped win it for Cayton.
Adam Brown’s 39 helped Wykeham C to 79-6 in their four-wicket win against Muston.
Kyle Orange took 3-21 to keep Wykeham in check, but he couldn’t stop them reaching their target.
John Flinton’s 30 wasn’t enough to stop Forge Valley B slipping to an eight-wicket defeat against Flixton B.
