Staff at Scarborough Hospital are celebrating after a £5,000 donation was made to the hospital charity from Scarborough and Locals Together, the community shop based on Falsgrave.

The donation is already having a big impact at the hospital – the York Teaching Hospital Charity has used the money to purchase some new equipment.

One of the items is a new INR machine which measures the blood quality of patients before a procedure in the Endoscopy Department. Having this machine means that patients no longer need to attend the hospital for a blood test days prior to their procedure.

Community fundraiser at the hospital charity, Maya Liversidge, said: “It is always humbling to receive donations to help our hospital. “Thanks to the generosity of our local community, we are able to keep making the experience better for patients when they have to visit.

“Whether used to buy new machines or make small improvements, all donations can have a big impact and we are so very grateful for the support we receive.”
