SCARBOROUGH Area Music Centre’s Easy Jazz Band gave a warming concert to a large crowd on a cold evening at the “switch on” of the Christmas lights at Thornton-Le-Dale.
Easy Jazz, under its conductor Ralph Alder, played a lively repertoire of their upbeat music as many locals and visitors came to see the popular Christmas lights.
Press officer Jan Corrie said: “The village was bustling with young and old, and with the shops remaining open the event was a perfect way to prepare for Christmas.
“The Band played two sets totalling over an hour, one before and one after the official lights switch on ceremony and included such pieces as Cousin Jeff, Tenor Madness, Sing, Sing, Sing and Santa Baby.
“The children from Thornton-Le-Dale Primary School also sang carols.
“Easy Jazz Band helped create a wonderful atmosphere for the evening.
“From the faces on both the crowd and the band members themselves it was obvious to see all who were in Thornton Dale on Saturday evening had a very enjoyable time.”
