Staff at the University of Hull’s Scarborough Campus have been nominated for a national award for administration.
They are in the running for the ‘Outstanding Departmental Administration Team’ category in the forthcoming Times Higher Education magazine’s Leadership & Management Awards 2013.
The nomination recognises a radical restructure of the campus administration and development of a new streamlined student interface.
This replaced a host of separate academic departmental and central administrative teams with three new cross-cutting teams: Campus Connect, Scarborough Student Administration, and Corporate Support.
The transformation project, which was motivated by student feedback, involved consultation with staff across the University of Hull as well as other institutions
Scarborough Campus principal Craig Gaskell, said: “This project has enabled us to focus on providing an excellent environment for our students and it is great that it has generated so much interest from the sector.
“The change process has been very challenging and hard work for a large number of colleagues, but staff have really embraced the new structure and approach. They should all be very proud that their efforts have been recognised by making it to the prestigious THE awards shortlist.”
Staff will find out whether they have won at a high-profile awards ceremony to be held in June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
