IT wasn’t just the last day of school for children at Seamer and Irton pre-school.
It was also the last day for the schools co-founder Jenny Boyes, who after 24 years at the pre-school, was leaving.
Jenny, 62, from Seamer, said: “The last day was quite emotional. I’ve been doing this for 24 years, so I thought that it was time to quit, although it was with a really heavy heart.
“I will really miss everybody at the school, but of course I’ll keep popping in to see them from time to time.
Sarah Hamners daughter Eve attends the school and said that the children would be sad to see Jenny go.
She said: “The kids were all really upset to see her go. When they first start and they’re frightened they all go running to Jenny first.
“You could always really trust her as she was just so friendly.”
Her last day was marked with a party featuring entertainment from Mr Bubbles, as well as a presentation for children moving on to primary school.
