YOUNGSTERS from a Scarborough school are on the write track to literary success after an insightful visit to the town’s library.
The Reception and Nursery, Year One and Year Two pupils from Bramcote School took a trip to Scarborough Library to look at a variety of different books and boost their creative understanding.
The children had recently celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite fictional character and were shown around the library by community and information officer Heather French.
Starting in the research rooms, the tour included a look at a copy of the Scarborough Evening News from 1903 on micro-film - including old advertisements and huge paintings of Scarborough from years gone by - before enjoying a story in a sea-themed area and choosing a bedtime read to borrow.
Jane Eves, a Year One and Year Two teacher, added: “The visit was extremely worthwhile, the library staff were very helpful and the children clearly enjoyed their visit.
“It demonstrated to the children how important libraries are and that they are a great place to go to find out information.”
