An outline for a new university campus for Scarborough has been released.

The Hull College Group says it will open University Campus Scarborough in Filey Road from September.

It says it will offer ‘full and part-time degrees in Health, Construction, Engineering and Sciences’ before expanding in 2016 to include Business, IT and Sport.

There is no word yet on what happens to the students currently studying for degrees at the campus and how many new students Hull College intends to attract.

Staffing levels have also not been addressed.

Hull College Group Chief Executive Gary Warke MBE said: “We are delighted that our plans to launch University Campus Scarborough have come to fruition.

“Over the coming weeks we will roll out our vision for a high quality curriculum offer which meets the needs of employers and students regionally and nationally”.

The group will take over the campus from University of Hull, which announced last year that it would stop offering honours degrees at the campus.
