A SCARBOROUGH school is hoping to build on solid foundations thanks to the opening of a new building.

Friarage Primary School, in Longwestgate, is set to mark a new chapter in its history tomorrow with the official unveiling of new and refurbished classrooms.

The school will be open from noon until 3pm for visitors to have a look around the site and take part in a range of fun activities.

During the day there will be guided tours of the school, with headteacher Eilis Siddall set to give an official welcome to guests at 1pm.

The speech will be followed by a performance from the school’s choir, with visitors given the opportunity to record their own memories of their time at the school and participate in a number of workshops.

Organisers have encouraged old and new friends to go along and celebrate the occasion.

However, any children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the event.

For more information about the open day and the events taking place, contact the school on (01723) 374244.
