Ellie's record soars into charts - COMMENT ON THIS STORY

A SONG recorded by staff and pupils at Scalby School in memory of a pupil is storming the charts.

The school recorded its rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow and What A Wonderful World to raise awareness of brain cancer after pupil Ellie Othick-Bowmaker lost a three-year battle aged 14.

The song was officially released yesterday – and on its first day made it to 21 on the Amazon Chart, ahead of Dizzee Rascal, Alicia Keys and Alexandra Burke.

The song was also number 1 on the Amazon Movers and Shakers chart, and had reached number 70 on the itunes chart.
