THE Scarborough branch of the Royal Engineers’ Association were in fine voice during a carol concert.

The service, which was held at St Mary’s Church, in Cloughton, began with the lighting of Christmas Candles and raised money for Ellie’s Fund.

The event also saw standards from the Association, the Royal British Legion and Scarborough College on parade, before the entertainment got under way.

A spokesman said: “Rev Liz Kitching delighted the congregation with a solo performance and hearts were cheered by the community choral singing.

“After the service, mulled wine and mince pies were served to members in the church hall while entertainment came from Sylvia Laverack who sang all time favourites which were enjoyed by all.”

The Scarborough branch of the Royal Engineers’ Association meets every second Thursday of the month at the Hospital Social Club.

All are welcome.
