The people behind Moorsbus, the scenic bus network in and around the North York Moors National Park, are reminding visitors that there's still time to enjoy a great day out in the area during autumn.

They believe that September is the perfect month to enjoy a trip to the North York Moors before the Moorsbus network takes its traditional winter break at the end of the month.

A spokesman said: “This year has seen Moorsbus flourishing on Sundays and Bank Holidays – while the companion MoorsPlus services on Saturdays and Mondays from York and Malton railway stations into the heart of the National Park have also proved very popular, thanks to support from train operator Transpennine Express.

“September is a great time to use the service, with the unique moors landscape draped in purple heather and the golden colours of Autumn transforming ancient woodlands providing great views.

“Moorsbus services operate every Sunday until 24 September, with direct services to the National Park from Darlington, Teesside, East Cleveland, Northallerton, Thirsk and Malton.

“MoorsPlus journeys run every Saturday and Monday until 30 September, serving York, train passengers at Malton and Danby stations, and a host of moorland villages en route.

“Full ticket and timetable details for Moorsbus, including how to join the Friends of Moorsbus scheme and benefit from the growing range of discounts are available online at www.moorsbus.org.”
