SCARBOROUGH entrepreneurs who set up social enterprises are being invited to a special event next month.
The event is for anyone who runs, or is thinking of starting a project, enterprise or trading arm that benefits the local community.
The first meeting will be held at Falsgrave Community Resource Centre on Thursday March 8 from 9.30am to noon.
David Hassall, social enterprise adviser with Seachange, said he expected the inaugural meeting to be the first of many productive sessions, run by and for the enterprises themselves.
“It will be an exciting opportunity to share successes, grow contacts and benefit from the experience of others,” he said. “Setting up a network of people will give members the chance to support one another and learn together.”
The aim of the initiative is to establish a forum for people who are setting up or running a social enterprise, community development or charitable business across the Scarborough area and beyond.
Other businesses with an interest in corporate social responsibility are encouraged to attend.
The morning programme includes presentations from Avis Turner, chief executive of Basics Plus @Betton Farm and Kath Taylor, trustee of Esk Moors Caring.
To reserve a place, people are invited to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Mr Hassall on (01723) 362205 or 07799 646300.
