TWO beach clean-up events have been organised in the Scarborough area tomorrow.
The first is aimed at young adults and has been organised by campaign group Surfers Against Sewage.
It will be in Scarborugh’s South Bay between 11am and 2pm.
The second has been organised by Primrose Valley Holiday Park, in association with Scarborough Borough Council and the Marine Conservation Society, and will be in Filey Bay.
Cllr Nick Harvey, a member of the Green Party for Hertford ward, said: “Mid-March is an ideal time to clear up the habitat prior to Spring growth.”
Jonathan Waldie, Assistant General Manager at Primrose Valley, said: “Last year many local residents, holidaymakers and owners of holiday homes on the park joined in with the beach clean and we are expecting similar numbers this time.”
The last time the holiday park organised a similar event volunteers managed to collect enough debris to fill two skips. The Filey event will start at 10am at the main access path to the beach, near the reception at the park.
