Environment Agency responds to concerns over white substance spotted in Scarborough beck
The Environment Agency said it was unable to confirm the origin of the substance which appears to have contaminated a beck in Scarborough.
A white substance was spotted running down the freshwater stream on Weaponness Valley Road on two separate occasions last week.
The initial assumption was that milk was being spilled, however, the Environment Agency has been unable to confirm this.
A spokesperson for the Environment agency said: “We have investigated reports of pollution in a culvert by Weaponness Valley Road in Scarborough following calls from the public.
"Officers were unable to substantiate the reports and found no signs of environmental harm or danger to wildlife. Should people witness any further signs of pollution, we would urge them to contact us immediately on 0800 807060 so we can investigate further.”
