GET your wheel barrows ready as this year’s first Soil Improver Giveaway is being launched.
The three-day event starts next week and will see 70 tonnes of soil improver given out across Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.
The soil improver is the end result of the composting process at Scarborough Resource Recovery Centre, which uses garden waste collected across Scarborough.
All residents need to do is bring along a maximum of two sturdy bags or two containers per household to the events, which are being held between 4pm and 7pm at Filey Country Park car park on March 23 and Whitby West Cliff car park on March 24, and between 10am and 4pm at Scarborough Burniston Road car park on March 26.
Harry Briggs, Recycling and Waste Enforcement officer, said: “The soil improver will be given on a first-come-first-served basis and the giveaway days are very popular!
