WEATHER experts have announced that the unseasonably mild weather looks set to continue.
Blossom and blooms around Scarborough are appearing earlier than usual, following on from a mild December.
Met Office figures show that 2011 was the second warmest year on record for the UK.
The average December temperature was 4.7C, compared to minus 5C in 2010.
The Met Office’s annual global forecast is now predicting that 2012 will be around 0.48C warmer than the long-term (1961-1990) global average of 14C.
If this year’s temperatures are within the expected range it would place 2012 within the top 10 warmest years in a series which goes back to 1850.
