Villagers rewarded for efforts

MORE than 70 entrants were rewarded for their green fingered efforts at Cayton’s annual Best Kept Garden awards ceremony.

The evening was held in Cayton Village Hall and the large number of participants were all given certificates at bronze, silver, silver-gilt and gold level, with the overall winners also being awarded trophies.

Les Hutchinson, chairman of Cayton in Bloom, said: “The award ceremony is always a great night and it rewards the work of residents in their gardens. The gardens make a big impact on how the village looks and helps the work of the Cayton in Bloom group so it’s great to be able to award people like this.”

Overall winners were Mr and Mrs G Forcer, Mr and Mrs R Beadnall and Mr and Mrs M McGregor.

Amelia and Annie Bilton were awarded Overall Young Persons winner in the Creative Vegetable Patch category and Mr and Mrs E Blacker were Overall Winners in this category.
