People with building projects in mind across Yorkshire need to be more clued up about the scale and details of the work they propose to do, according to builders across the county.

A new survey commissioned by the The Northern Homebuilding & Renovating Show among builders revealed that over two thirds of potential customers don’t offer relevant information about their projects upfront.

Furthermore, over 75 per cent of them don’t have realistic time, duration and cost expectations about their building projects and renovations.

At this year's show, to take place in Harrogate Convention Centre on November 2-4, Yorkshire people can gain advice direct from property experts, with a series of free masterclasses, seminars and face-to-face consultations with the country’s leading specialists all available on a first come first served booking basis.

Leading brands will all be under one roof at the three-day exhibition offering choices to individuals who are considering a new project or have one underway.

The show is tailored around useful resources needed for eco and heating systems; kitchens; bathrooms; doors, windows and flooring and much more.

Latest trends in technology, products and services will also be presented to visitors by over 240 local and national specialist companies. Attendees can discuss their works with the designers and professionals behind them. Some specialist exhibitors will be hold free masterclasses.

The Ask the Architect area returns to The Advice Centre, for one-on-one consultations with impartial advice and tailored inspiration. Visitors needing help with topics ranging from building regulations to structural engineering calculations are encouraged to discuss plans with chartered architectural specialists from the Royal Institute of British Architects, by booking 15-minute consultations.

An Ask the Builder feature allows visitors to receive trusted advice on every kind of project around the home from members of the Federation of Master Builders.

For those who have questions relating to self-build or renovation, they will be able to discuss them with leading property experts in the Ask the Expert area.

Those providing free educational consultations include: Michael Holmes (director of content and product development for Homebuilding & Renovating magazine); Jason Orme (editorial director of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine); David Snell (Homebuilding & Renovating magazine’s self-build and plot finding expert); Tim Pullen (eco-expert of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine), and Bob Branscombe (building expert of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine).
