The event, which runs from 10am to 4pm, will deliver crafts, a choir, storytime and a visit from Father Christmas.

Local crafters will be on hand with original gifts in a mini craft market all day.

In the afternoon, babies and toddlers will be joining in the fun during a Christmas fancy dress storytime session with staff and volunteers between 2pm and 2.30pm.

During storytime there will be a special visit by Santa’s sleigh, provided by Yorkshire Coast Homes.

There will also be a special guest and face painting.

A library spokesman said: “Spaces for this event are limited so please book in advance direct with Yorkshire Coast Homes on 03450 655656 to ensure your child receives a free small gift from Santa.”

A taster session on getting to grips with Microsoft Publisher is taking place from 3pm to 4pm. The session costs just £1 but places are limited.
