RESIDENTS of Plaxton Court in Scarborough have bought the Yorkshire Air Ambulance more flying time with an £850 donation.
The cash was raised through various events – including Easter and Christmas fairs and evenings of entertainment – held last year.
Cake stalls and raffles were also held to boost the total for the residents’ chosen charity.
“We do rely on outside support for our events as well as the residents’ backing,” said secretary of Plaxton Court Residents’ Association Pamela Hart.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance volunteer fundraiser Jean Dixon, who runs a stall for the service in the Market Hall, Scarborough, was on hand to receive the cheque.
The residents will choose their charity of the year later this month.
Some of the money they raise is used to enhance life at Plaxton Court and to this end a new electric piano has been acquired for the lounge.
