A LONG overdue summer fair is now set to become a regular fixture at a local school after its return was praised by parents and children.
The brightening weather offered the perfect opportunity for Overdale to stage a summer fun day featuring craft stalls, tombolas, car boot sale, fun fair and a one-and-a-half hour danceathon to raise money for the primary school.
Teaching assistant and event organiser Lyndsey Bowman said the event had been so well received that it would be held again in future years.
She said: “We haven’t had for one for a number of years so we were trying to start it off again.
“We raised about £1400 and we’ve still got money coming in from the sponsored danceathon.”
“It was to raise money for school funds which are going towards playground equipment, chosen by the school council.
“It was a fantastic day, everyone really enjoyed it.
“A lot of parents came and there were really good comments back from the parents, we’ll definitely be continuing it now.”
