Family’s delight at afternoon treat

A Scarborough cafe went the extra mile when the business found out that one of its regular visitors was 107 years old.

The Clock Cafe, near the Spa in Scarborough decided to dish up afternoon tea on the house after a family member happened to mention her nanna’s age while they were visiting for morning coffee.

Centenarian Gertrude Morton, from Leeds, a regular visitor to the resort was delighted to learn of the invite after her daughter Irene had let slip her age to a member of staff.

A family member, said: “We couldn’t believe what we were presented with, we were treated like royalty and we just want to say a big thank you to the staff at the Clock Cafe.”
