SPECULATION surrounds the future of Scarborough bakers Woodhead.
A meeting of employees will take place today at the 74-year-old company, which employs dozens of people.
Representatives at the firm’s factory in Beaconsfield Street declined to comment last night and referred the Evening News to insolvency experts The P&A Partnerships.
It is understood a number of staff had indications yesterday that they could be made redundant. Only a handful of people appeared at the factory last night.
The business has shops in Scarborough – in Westborough, the Brunswick Pavilion, Dean Road, Falsgrave Road, Newlands Park Drive, North Marine Road, Ramshill Road and Wreyfield Drive.
It has opened shops over the years as far afield as York, Driffield, Malton, Bridlington and Hull.
