A SCARBOROUGH town centre store helped to spread some Christmas magic by giving hundreds of soft toys to Scarborough Hospital children’s ward.
Staff from Matalan, along with Scarborough firefighters from Blue Watch, dropped off the special delivery of cuddly dogs earlier this week.
The toys were all donated by customers, who bought the extra gift along with their usual shopping on the run-up to Christmas.
Store manager Bev Nunns said: “It’s the fourth year we’ve done this and people have been ever so generous.
“There were nearly 600 toys donated, which have been shared out between the children’s ward and Martin House Children’s Hospice, with some left over for another good cause.”
Mrs Nunns added that she had been touched by the response from the staff and patients. She said: “The children’s faces just light up and it makes it all worthwhile. It has made so many people happy.”
