Young women in Scarborough have one last chance to enter a regional spectacular in the hope of bringing a glamorous title back to the town.

With only days left to enter Miss Scarborough and District 2013, hopes of finding a new ambassador from Scarborough currently rest on the shoulders of Charlotte Mcfarlane-Brooke, 18, Grace Fergus, 17, and Amelia Stone, 18.

They will be going for the pageant top spot alongside Jade Brown, 19, of Bridlington; Laura Stone, 23, Lisette Vincent-Jones, 22, Samantha Dixon, 24, and Becky Noble of Whitby; Beth Carpenter, 19, and Chantel Craggs, 18, of Ryedale; Gemma Scorfield, 22, Kimberley West, 20, Rachel Nichol, 21, Amy Page, 19, Mary Marshall, 24, of York.

The glitzy extravaganza takes place on Saturday May 18 and will see a new winner succeed current Miss Scarborough Beth Hedgecock.

But there’s still time to enter in the running by this Friday’s April 12 deadline.

To be eligible to enter, female entrants must be aged between 17-24 as of June 14, 2013 and live within 60 miles of Scarborough. They must be unmarried and have no children.

The newly crowned Miss Scarborough will win a host of prizes and will gain automatic entry in to the Miss England finals in Torquay on June 15, 2013.

Competition organiser Diane Yalezo, owner of Filey prom dress shop Desire, said the competition is open to girls from all walks of life.

Beth Hedgecock, 18, of Seamer is encouraging more girls to take up the opportunity.

She said: “I’d really recommend it; you have a really great day and night and meet some really nice people.”

All entrants will go through to the auditions on April 21, with those successful making it through to the regional final.
