Fire crews called four times to Malton overnight to battle flood water

Fire crews were called four times overnight in Malton to help residents impacted by flooding in the area.

At 10pm fire crews were called to Sheepfoot Hill to assist the Environment Agency already in attendance. They set up an eight inch pump and replaced some hose lengths.

Firefighters were called an hour later at 11pm to a house in Castlegate to help remove flood water from the property using two light portable pumps.

Crews attended a property at 3.38am in Slingsby near Malton due to flooding and gave advice to residents.

At 8am fire crews assisted residents moving furniture due to water starting to come up through floor in Railway Street.

Crews were called out a total of 30 times since 6pm yesterday evening across the county responding largely to flooding.
