SCARBOROUGH firefighters were called to a kitchen blaze at a property in the town yesterday.
Three crews from Scarborough attended the fire at a house in Trafalgar Road around 2.30pm after a cooker set alight.
Nobody was injured in the incident and the house suffered smoke damage from the fire.
A fourth crew from Filey was also drafted in to help deal with the incident,
Four firefighters using breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets tackled the blaze before removing the cooker from the premises.
A spokesman for Scarborough Fire and Rescue Service said one person had been in the house at the time of the fire but had left the building before crews arrived on the scene.
He added although the cooker was suspected to be the cause of the fire, investigations into the exact cause were still ongoing.
The road was blocked for around an hour as firefighters tended the incident.
