Firefighters freed a man from a car in Sandsend near Whitby yesterday.

Crews from Whitby and Lythe were called to reports of a vehicle on its side on Lythe Bank at 3.52pm.

They released a man from the car using airbags and a vehicle winch.

The road was shut while emergency services were at the scene.

It was reopened by around 6pm.
