Floral tributes to young Filey man laid at the scene of fatal crash between his motorbike and double-decker bus, near Blue Dolphin holiday park
Floral tributes have been laid at the scene of an accident where a young Filey man lost his life yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash involving a double-decker bus and a motorbike on Stonepit Lane in Filey, near to the entrance of the Blue Dolphin holiday park, at 5.05pm.
The motorcyclist - a man in his 20s from Filey - died at the scene.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The bus caught fire after the crash and emergency services had to shut the road and evacuate the area while firefighters dealt with the flames.
A spokesperson for Blue Dolphin said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the young man who passed away.
“None of our guests or team members were directly involved in the incident but passengers and the driver of the bus were brought on park immediately afterwards and comforted whilst speaking to emergency services.”
Police are appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle before the collision or what happened, who did not speak to an officer at the scene, to contact them.
They would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who captured dash cam footage of the incident.
Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one and pass the information over to the Force Control Room.
