SCARBOROUGH’S bingo lovers are being invited to join thousands across the country and enjoy a cuppa for charity.
Mecca Bingo, in Albemarle Crescent, is holding a royal themed Blooming Great Tea Party on Wednesday to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Staff and customers will be joining thousands of people across the UK this June and July as they put the kettle on to host a Blooming Great Tea Party and raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
To add some sparkle to the occasion, staff at Mecca Bingo are encouraging customers and team members to adopt the royal theme by wearing glamorous hats and dresses or even dressing up as a member of the Royal Family.
Tim Stobart at Mecca Bingo said: “We are very excited to be holding a Blooming Great Tea Party to support our charity partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care and hope that many of our club customers will come and join in the fun.
“The money raised from the tea party will allow more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to terminally ill people in their own homes.”
Scarborough Marie Curie Cancer Care community fundraiser Cheryl Barrett said: “We are really pleased that Mecca Bingo has got in to the spirit of our campaign and shown just how simple it is to take part.
“We are asking everyone in the community to host their own tea party for Marie Curie Cancer Care this June and July.
“Your Blooming Great Tea Party can be as simple as a cuppa and cakes in the office or a party in the garden with friends. However big or small – funds raised can make a huge difference in allowing Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to terminally ill people in their own homes.”
