Funding of up to £1,000 now available for southern areas

Grants of up to £1,000 are being made available for residential projects in southern area of Scarborough.

Thanks to a new grants scheme residents of the parishes of Cayton, Folkton and Flixton, Gristhorpe and Lebberston, Muston, Osgodby and Reighton and Speeton are being invited to apply.

Funding is being provided by The Southern Parish Cluster, and applications will be considered by the cluster representatives from the parishes at the group’s meeting in January 2013.

Any voluntary or community organisation can apply to the scheme, providing their project will provide benefits to local people and supports the aims of the Community Strategy for the Borough.

Cllr Godfrey Allanson, chairman of the Cluster, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for clubs and organisations in the villages in the Southern Area in Scarborough to help them keep going and possibly expand and improve their services.”

Cllr Eileen Vickers, vice chairman of the Cluster, added: “The new grants scheme will greatly assist in projects where residents do very good work locally but are short of funds.”

The closing date for applications for grants is December 14.

An application form is available from Helen Carter, clerk to The Cluster by telephone on (01723) 582492 or email or alternatively an application form can be downloaded from the Area Committee page of the Scarborough Council website
