An online funding appeal has been set up to support a Seamer father after he came off his motorcycle in a horrific crash.
Paul Alderton was riding his motorcycle with friends from Duggleby to West Lutton when he lost control of the vehicle and was “cartwheeled” into a nearby field.
His injuries show the aftermath of the horrfic crash. Paul badly broke both of his legs, along with 15 ribs, four vertebrae and his pelvis.
He also had fluid around his heart and lungs. Friend Richard Kirkby, who witnessed the accident, said: “I actually thought he was dead. I ran to him and I was expecting to find just a dead body.”
When Richard reached Paul he was relieved to find him conscious.
He said: “Seeing anyone lay there like that is awful, but seeing a friend it is soul destroying.” Paramedics treated Paul at the scene for two and a half hours before he was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary.
Since the accident, which happened on Sunday September 18, Paul has undergone multiple operations and was placed in an induced coma for about a week.
Now on the mend, Paul and his family and friends know it will be a long road to recovery.
Paul has been described as a bubbly person who would help anyone at a moment’s notice if they asked.
So Richard set up a “Go Fund Me” page to raise cash for Paul to go towards his mortgage and food while he is recovering and unable to work.
In less than a week the fund has already raised more than £1,400. Richard said: “He’s just absolutely made up about the fund, he doesn’t know what to say. He’s just so happy that someone has actually dug in their pocket and thought of him.” To donate to Paul visit www.gofundme.com/2s9djbh4
