Members of the Scarborough fundraising group for Marie Curie Cancer Care were delighted with the results of their annual Charity Golf Day held at North Cliff Golf Club.

The event attracted 234 golfers, who took part in an action-packed day raising £6,629.36 in support of the charity’s local nursing service.

Organiser Mary Woodall said: “Our grateful thanks go to Sizer Jewellers for sponsoring the cost of the course along with the many local businesses that kindly sponsored various elements of the day to ensure that all costs of staging the event are funded. This support enables every penny raised to be used in the local area to provide more home nursing care for terminally ill patients. We simply couldn’t achieve the level of care that we do without their generosity.”

The winning teams on the day were led by Dave Parrott and Claire Ellard. A spokesperson from Marie Curie expressed their congratulations and sincere thanks following the event.
