A CELEBRITY poker night featuring stars from ITV’s Emmerdale is being held at Scarborough’s ECasino in Newborough.
The event, which will take place on Friday February 4 from 7pm onwards, is being held in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.
Celebrity players will include Kelvin Fletcher who plays Andy Sugden and James Hooton who plays Sam Dingle, with two others yet to be confirmed.
Organisers say there will be four to five poker tables with a celebrity on each table.
Each participant will pay £2 to register which will go straight to St Catherine’s. They will also put in a £20 stake to enter the tournament, which will be played in a normal poker situation.
The winner takes the cash or if a celebrity wins, they will donate it to the hospice. Also, if someone knocks a celebrity out of the competition they will win a prize.
There will also be a raffle on the night in aid of the hospice.
Dave Phillips, the ECasino’s business development manager, said: “It’s a really nice way to raise money for the hospice.
“We wanted to support a local charity and the hospice is close to the hearts of many people in the town.
“I was absolutely blown away when I went up there and was shown around. The fact that they have to raise £4.5m every year to keep going is just amazing.”
He added that he was looking forward to the poker night, which had come about as a member of staff is friends with one of the stars.
Mr Phillips said that this tournament is suitable for those who already know how to play, but the ECasino also offers regular “learn to play” sessions.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. You can register from now until the event - either call in and sign up or telephone the ECasino on (01723) 343760.
