HOT on the heels of their link and endorsement with Middlesbrough FC’s Martin Carter, Brazilian Soccer Schools have set up advanced classes at Scarborough Rugby Club every Monday night.
This is by invitation only to youngsters demonstrating potential to go to the highest level.
John Bowman Head Coach for Brazilian Soccer Schools Scarborough & Ryedale said: “I absolutely believe in this method as the way to develop young footballers.
“The children who attend have improved enormously specifically in relation to their confidence in possession of the ball.
“They are able to call upon a range of core skills, turns, passes and moves to beat, which are taught as part of the Brazilian Soccer Schools’ unique curriculum, which gives them the ability to look after the football when under pressure.
“The football played by these youngsters is of a level of maturity well beyond their years.
“In the past two years I have spoken to people involved in the Football Academies at the three professional clubs nearest to us in Scarborough namely Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Hull City, and all have been in favour of youngsters engaging in this form of football education in addition to their Academy work.
Karen Weech, franchise director for Scarborough & Ryedale added: “Our advanced class is now attracting some of the best talent in the area, particularly 12 years and under.
“Children are now recognising that Brazilian Soccer Schools is something they can do in addition to other football they might be involved in to take their skills to the highest level.”
Pupil Matthew Bowman said: “Brazilian football is really good, it has brought me on massively since I started doing it.
“I am much more confident on the ball and am able to get myself out of tight situations. It has helped me succeed at Middlesborough and my coaches there are really pleased with me.”
