Generator fire spread into barn at Mickleby, near Whitby

Whitby and Lythe fire crews dealt with a fire in a barn with 150 tonnes of grain inside yesterday.

Firefighters tackled a barn blaze at Mickleby.

The teams were called to Mickleby, near Whitby, at 5.23pm where a generator was well alight.

The flames had spread to the barn and its contents - around 150 tonnes of grain.

Additional help to put out the fire was called for from a crew from Danby.
