IN anticipation of Sunday’s night of pizazz, Miss Scarborough finalists wined and dined at an Italian restaurant to help ease last-minute nerves.
Fourteen girls are taking part in the Miss Scarborough and District 2011 final, at the Spa Grand Hall, and to celebrate, competition organiser Diane Yalezo arranged a get-together at Tricolos in Eastborough last night.
She said: “The pre-final dinner gives a chance for the girls to get together, meet each other and relax, so they’re not as nervous for Sunday night.
“We’ve gone over last-minute details and it just makes them feel at ease so when they get to the Spa on Sunday they know the others.”
Tricolos owner John Senior provided free drinks for the entrants, who are from Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington Whitby and Malton.
More than 300 tickets have already been sold for the 2011 event which is sponsored by the Opera House Casino and organised by Desire of Filey in conjunction with the Evening News.
Mrs Yalezo added: “All the girls seem very excited, ticket sales are going very well and every girl has quite a lot of support. I think they’re still a little bit nervous, but very excited at the same time.”
Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm start and there will also be a disco until midnight.
Tickets can be purchased from the Evening News office until noon tomorrow or from Desire in Belle Vue Street, Filey for £12.50 or call Diane on 07580 447459. Tickets and entry on the night will cost £15, but please arrive early.
Phone and text votes are now open, for details visit www.missengland.info/regionals/scarborough.
Diane would like to thank the businesses that have donated prizes: Compass Gym, Mademoiselle, the Fotoshop, Eastern Paradise Brasserie, CoGonis restaurant, Opera House Casino, Flowers of Distinction, Desire of Filey and Orchids hand and foot spa.
