The four Yorkshire mums Helen Butters, Niki Doeg, Janette Benaddi and Frances Davies achieved their dream by successfully rowing the 3,000 mile wide Atlantic Ocean picking up a world record for the oldest woman team to row any ocean.

In recent years, the dazzling Scarborough GoldWing Light Parade charity event has become one of the most popular East Coast attractions with crowds of spectators topping 15,000, flocking to the resort’s North and South Bays Promenades to watch this fabulously colourful procession of brightly illuminated Honda GoldWings, the world’s premier touring motorcycle.

The event consists of a static display of Honda GoldWing bikes and trikes on West Pier and Foreshore Road, Scarborough, from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Riders come from all parts of the UK to show off their fabulous machines and their artistic lighting projects. This year there will be a few riders from Holland also showing off their GoldWings.

The Mayor of Scarborough will choose his favourite GoldWing Trike and he will also present awards at 3.45pm on the West Pier. Then at 7.30pm the promenades north and south will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the GoldWing Light Parade started by the Yorkshire Rows team who will also be riding in the parade. The evening is topped off by Starfires spectacular fireworks fired from the beach to music, courtesy of Scarborough South Bay Traders’ Association.
