Employees at leading recruiter, Gi Group UK, have voted to support MacMillan Cancer Research as the company’s Charity of the Year – and will aim to raise £30,000 for them.
The campaign was launched earlier in the spring, with Gi Group employees ‘going green’ for the day – all wearing green in support of Macmillan and decorating its 80-plus nationwide branches and client locations in the charity’s branded balloons and bunting.
Gi Group Branch Manager of the team based in Scarborough, said: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with MacMillan and there is real excitement about tackling our ambitious target.
“The Gi Group team here in Scarborough have embraced it and are fully committed to support the charity and help achieve our UK target.
“We have a great affinity with Macmillan as both organisations endeavour to enhance the lives of those we work with.
“There is a strong cultural fit and Macmillan was a cause the company voted overwhelmingly to support.
“Macmillan understands how a cancer diagnosis can affect all aspects of a person’slife and is committed to supporting cancer sufferers, and help them take back control of their life.
“In line with this, we hope to leverage our experience and resources as a large recruiter to offer employability support to MacMillan’s survivors, and their families –- helping them to get back into the workplace, post recovery.”
Gi Group plans to raise funds for MacMillan through a variety of events held throughout the year such as quizzes, a cycle relay and a silent auction, and has appointed a number of Gi Charity Champions across the country to assist in reaching this target.
