THE YORKSHIRE Air Ambulance received a smooth sum of £482 by a supporter who chopped off his long locks to raise money for the cause.
Andy Agars of Bridlington showed his hair and beard was worth it in the charity stunt, which marks his second hairless venture after going for the chop two years ago.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance team leader Jean Dixon, who runs the Scarborough stall in the Market hall, said it was one of the more unusual fundraisers but gratefully received.
She said: “He did it because he was airlifted at one point by Lancashire, but he supports the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“He does it every alternate year, it takes him a year to grow and then he shaves it off.
“It is unusual and it’s a big step to go from having a lot of hair to none at all.
Mrs Dixon added: “Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a free service. We’re now doing more call outs now with two helicopters and the cost of fuel can take a big heap out of funding.
“The people of Yorkshire are very supportive and I’m so grateful for that.”
