GPs’ plea on medication

PATIENTS across Scarborough taking regular medication are being asked to make sure they have enough to see them through the forthcoming Bank Holidays.

Local GPs are urging patients who have routine or repeat prescriptions to check before the Bank Holiday weekends in May and June when many pharmacies and all GP surgeries in the area will be closed.

Dr David Geddes, GP and Medical Director of NHS North Yorkshire and York, said: “We are therefore urging patients to make sure they have enough medication to see them through.

“The last thing we want is for patients to suffer unnecessarily, or have an emergency episode because they did not have enough medication.”
