Hospital gets a new manager

SCARBOROUGH health trust has appointed a new part-time manager for Bridlington Hospital.

Matthew Groom will be based at the Bessingby Road Hospital three days a week and will continue to work part-time for NHS East Riding in his role as assistant director of localities.

As hospital manager, working closely with the hospital’s matron – Hilary Woodward – Mr Groom’s role will be to provide a managerial focus for Bridlington.

He will also lead on several projects to develop services on the site.

Mr Groom said: “I am delighted to be working with the staff to develop Bridlington and District Hospital. I will continue to work closely with local GPs who are fully supportive of improving the range of services provided.”

Essential maintenance work has now begun on the main theatre at Bridlington Hospital following a £500,000 investment

One of Mr Groom’s roles will be to work with the surgical division to look at increasing surgical activity at the hospital when the theatre reopens early next year.
