VISITORS, staff and patients will soon be greeted by new internal and external signs at Scarborough Hospital – making it easier for people to navigate their way around the site.

The new signs will begin being installed in March and the work is expected to be completed by April 2011.

Malcolm G Miller, capital projects manager, said: “Following the signage presentations we held in May, the design has been completed, tenders obtained and a contract entered into for the provision internal and external signage at Scarborough Hospital.

Over the past two months temporary signs have been displayed throughout the hospital so that staff could make any final comments or suggestions.

Mr Miller continued: “We are working hard to improve the accessibility of our hospitals, to make sure that a visit to hospital is as stress free as possible and that patients and visitors can easily find their way around.”

Other improvements due to get under way next month include work on improving the facilities at the hospital’s radiography department by adding a new mammography scanning suite as well as an ultrasound room.
